FS : XT-ide expansion card for Toshiba Portables CF T1200 T1600 T3100 T5100 T5200

Oh this looks awesome! I have a beautiful Toshiba T3200SXC that I'm hoping to bring back to life (it currently has a dead PSU), and I bet that one of your clever upgrades would be very useful. I'll make a reminder to check your website and follow your eBay store, and if you happen to put together a "waiting list," please put me down for one "External" unit with a T3200SXC-compatible ROM!

Thanks,

Huxley

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the wait, just wanted to let everyone know that I've started work on the next batch of expansion cards. I'm hoping to get them all ready and listed by the end of August.
Keep an eye on my website for availability: https://conventionalmemories.com/wiki_cm/3inONEder_for_Toshiba_portables

I'm sorry I haven't posted them here. but you can find the files on my website, including a short explanation of each one here: https://conventionalmemories.com/wiki_cm/3inONEder_for_Toshiba_portables#Programming_the_XTide_bios.
I'm eagerly waiting :D :D

For everyone that has been waiting, I'm happy to announce that I've just finished the latest batch of 100 boards and those are available. more info over on https://conventionalmemories.com/wiki_cm/3inONEder_for_Toshiba_portables

Any new features?
on https://conventionalmemories.com/wiki_cm/3inONEder_for_Toshiba_portables , you're talking about an internet controller, will it be on the same card or am I daydreaming? ;-)
And, yes latest version has an optional ethernet controller, as well as the usual CF card and OPL3 sound. ;)

Thank you for making these available again! I ordered a CF only one from your eBay store.

Can you set it up for a Toshiba T1100 plus?

Any specific type/size of CF card that works the best?

Great, thank you very much ;)
Will do.
Any normal CF card (no microdrives) should work up to 4GB (maybe even 8GB not sure). But sizes that big don't make much sense on an XT class machine. Something like 256MB is probably more than you could fill. (I use an old 64M card in my T1100+), also DIR commands start to take a while on "big" partitions.

CM, again I say good work on this. It is a game changer for what the T1100 plus can do. I found a 128MB CF card sitting in an old unused digital camera that is now my C: drive. I've even got Borland C++ 2.0 running on it and it can compile my floppy drive image program which is a number of modules, and though it takes a bit of time to build it, there is no way I could have got this compiler working on floppy disks only. It really extends the machine.

Just got mine installed in a T5200. Looks beautiful and works perfectly!

Thank you very much. It makes me really happy to know that what started out as a simple hobby project for my own Toshiba collection has brought joy and some new life to so many people and Toshibas all over.
I could never have guessed that there would have been so much interest in this, But to know that there are probably at least 200 Toshiba's right now with one of my cards in them is just amazing.
Part of me wishes that I had send everyone a small survey from the start, It would be really interesting to know what models are the most common and where.
Also makes me want to make some expansions for other portables, maybe the GRiD 1500 series.
Thanks again ;)

Hi I saw these first on Reddit then found a link to your site and of course now here.

Would really like one of your cards for a t3100e and I have a t3200 but not sure if your card supports that model.

Would be keen to get one of the cards in and running as the 20mb drive is full of bad sectors and depends on the phase of the moon if it will boot. It was double spaced before I got it and barely able to boot due to bad sectors and drive failing.

Many thanks for the amazing project

Mike

Is the Ethernet controller still limited? Or can it also use an NDIS driver (aside from the modified packet driver) for MS LANMAN compatibility (yes I know I could use a shim for packet to NDIS but trying to avoid that). If it is limited any plans on making a "16-bit" version of the card so it won't have these limits and be faster (yes it would limit compatibility to the higher end Toshiba machines).

Not sure if it’s of interest here but my t3100 came with a network card. I’ve yet to locate any details about how to use it or interface with it sadly this is the machine with the bad drive so I know a lot of the drive went bad I don’t believe I’ve seen any remnants of drivers for it and a web search so far turned up nothing.

If anyone has one of these and knows how to get it working I’d be curious to.

Megahertz T2ENT

I tried the various BIOS options but I dare say I need a driver a packet driver would be perfect start.
