Thanks for the responses.... I believe all the disks I'm testing to be OK. ie, no damage, no smell, no crud on them. It has to be the drives or something else causing the reads to fail. I'm testing under DOS and am using the A: and B: selections for accessing the disks. ie, A: DIR or B...
