The South Wanted: PDP-11 QBUS SCSI card

Apparently I didn't look hard enough...and I also wanted to give the community a chance to get my money than a company. The UC07 should work fine...thanks for pointing it out! EDIT - my mistake, looking back at my browser, was to search for `pdp-11 scsi` instead of `qbus scsi`. All in the...

The South Wanted: PDP-11 QBUS SCSI card

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a SCSI card...they seem to be a little hard to come by. An Emulex would be great, but honestly any that supports a disk would work.

    Common gotchas (Today I learned...)

Thankfully I just got a good memory test from the boot ROM...it's a 11/23+, and it still works thankfully. Still quite a shock...and very thankful for the fuses on the power board!

    Common gotchas (Today I learned...)

Recently I acquired a H9276-A backplane, and decided that I wanted to give it a try. I looked through the LSI Systems Service Manual Volume I (https://manx-docs.org/collections/antonio/dec/ek-lsifs-sv-005-vol1.pdf) to understand what all of the jumpers and things are for since they're not...

    H9276 backplane and Q22 cards

From the (admittedly limited) research I've done (mostly looking through Micronote 5)... I have the opportunity to get a 11/23+ enclosure, which looks like it comes standard with a H9276 backplane. It looks like this backplane has all Q/CD slots in it. Micronote 5 seems to suggest that as long...

    Q/CD slot compatible cards

Regarding the EPROM: The stickers have long since lost their writing, so I'm not sure what version I have. I can see that they are SCM90448C, so 8k each. I'm not opposed to pulling these and seeing if I can read them with my programmer. I pulled the memory board and tested both in mode 1 and...

    Q/CD slot compatible cards

You are right...it is the power-up mode setting. Moving J18-J19 (mode 2) to J18-J17 (mode 1) is what causes the system hung condition. Here's a link to the manual: http://www.bitsavers.org/www.computer.museum.uq.edu.au/pdf/KDF11-BA%20CPU%20Module%20User%27s%20Guide.pdf

    Q/CD slot compatible cards

Thanks to everyone for lending a hand here, and I apologize for still being a neophyte when it comes to the internals of a PDP-11. I plugged in the CPU board and the memory last night in slots 1 and 2, and turned on the system...no loss of magic smoke! The LEDs are cycling, but no output on the...

    Q/CD slot compatible cards

Thanks for the clarification! What I'm still not clear on is whether the KDF11B and the 512k memory can survive being inserted into the top three slots of my H9278A backplane, which are Q/CD slots. I've looked through the manuals for both cards, and all I can find is that jumpers W1 and W2...

    Q/CD slot compatible cards

With a little more digging, I found this in some mailing lists from 2003. If anyone can confirm, I'd be most appreciative!

    Q/CD slot compatible cards

I'm sure that this has been answered before, so my apologies...I couldn't get results by doing a search for "q/cd". I've just gotten a PDP 11/23+ (M8189-BA) and a 512k memory module (M8067) that I'd like to use to build a small system. I've got both a small H9270 backplane (not yet wired for...

DEC: Best way to troubleshoot CPU, memory

Following up from another post... I've managed to do some more troubleshooting with my 11/83 CPU, and unfortunately it seems to need some help. While I can get output from the ODT, the system will not accept any input on the console port. I did check the switch 1 setting, and if I'm reading the...

Build attempt for PDP-11 from spare boards - will they work together?

You're right...there is a console port there. I had wanted to use the DHV11 for additional serial ports mostly.

The South Sale or Trade - Multiple DEC QBUS boards

Hi there, I'm in the process of building a PDP-11/83 system from some of the parts that I've collected along the way. Some of these are MicroVAX, some are just not useful to me. Make an offer, or let's trade. Since I can't test them, I can't guarantee them, but I was told that they were...

Build attempt for PDP-11 from spare boards - will they work together?

The backplane is definitely marked as H9278-A. Good callout though... I can try installing a smaller memory module I have, though I'm unsure that it works. I guess we'll see. Update: Seems all I have are some 18-bit memory modules...I don't think they'll work in a 22-bit system.

Build attempt for PDP-11 from spare boards - will they work together?

Hi everyone! I've finally scored a working BA23 and power supply (which I recapped), and now I'm hoping to start my physical PDP-11 journey! I've got a few different options to build from, but what I'd really like to do is the 11/83 CPU. To that end, I have a couple of M8637 boards, but I...

    BA213 backplane power pinouts

I have managed to collect a BA213 backplane (12 slot Q/CD) that has two edge type connectors for connecting power supplies. I've also got two power supplies for the board, but no information about how to supply the mains -- the supplies have a strange shaped 6pin connector and no switch. What...

    Q/Q and Q/CD pinouts

Thanks for the reply :) It most definitely accepts QBUS cards, as my dual height cards fit into the slots. There is also wording on the backplane itself that says QBUS. The bars in the middle are made of some non-conductive material. It almost feels like fiberglass.

    Q/Q and Q/CD pinouts

I have found a unknown QBUS backplane that was manufactured by Measurex. I can't find any sort of documentation about it except that it is QBUS and will accept standard DEC dual height modules. Unfortunately, that also means that I have no idea whether this is a Q/Q, Q/CD, or a mix of both on...

    Measurex QBUS backplane

I've seen in a few places now a QBUS backplane that was apparently manufactured by the Measurex company. It's sometimes referred to as a Honeywell backplane, as Honeywell bought Measurex at some point. The model is listed as a 053534-00 14x4 QBUS backplane. So far, I haven't found any sort of...
