    Abit IP35 Motherboard

I have already tested the functionality of the two floppy drives, it's real!

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

Yesterday I found a motherboard that is right for me, a BIOSTAR I915P-A7 ULTRA, it supports two floppy drives and seems to work, unfortunately it has SATA 1, but if I wanted I could always add a SATA 2 controller in a PCIe slot. I'll do some testing these days.

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

Yesterday I found this Gigabyte EP43-UD3L motherboard, it has an IT8718F Super I/O which seems to have DRVB and MTRB pins, but only one floppy appears in the BIOS. What can I do?

I guess either "or" not means both. Cosa vuol dire "The function configuration of this pin is determined by programming the software configuration registers."?

For example: in the IT8712F datasheet on pin 53 appear MTB#/THRMO#

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

What does it mean when there are multiple functions one after the other on the same pin? Thanks

However, you have repeatedly stated that ImageDisk bypasses the BIOS. That's probably not really the case.

and ... Why if I type TESTFDC A: it's OK?

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

I found an Hp XW4200 workstation with LPC47B397-NS controller. Drive B does not appear in the BIOS. In ImageDisk there is a utility called TESTFDC, but it doesn't appear to be "BIOS ignorant utility", in fact it says "BIOS Reporting: Drive B: is not installed"

OK. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Rev. 1.6 motherboard has an IT8718 that supports dual floppy drives, but only one can be configured in this board's BIOS. How do you think you can solve it?

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

Ok, so even if the controller supports 2 floppy drives but only one floppy drive is present in the bios, only one will always be managed, is it correct? Thank you very much.

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

I would have found the motherboard that uses IT8712F-A is a BIOSTAR P4M900 MICRO 775 I would have also assumed the SMSC ICs supported two floppy drives. Where do you find all datasheets? Are the letters after the score important in the chip acronym? Furthermore, regarding the first two SMSC ICs...

    I also found these ICs LPC47B387-NC LPC47B397-NC IT8712F-A IT8718F-S

Can you find the SMSC SCH5327B-NS datasheet? I can't find it, but I found similar ICs without informations in question

Thanks for your suggestions. You are a very helpful person. In addition to the 3.5" drive, I intend to use a 5.25" drive to prepare the floppy disks for my vintage 8-bit computers. For this job I'll also use the Catweasel Mk4 PCI controller.

Because I also need SATA2 (at least 4) and a couple of PCIe slots

    Abit IP35 Motherboard

Ok I have to be more careful when reading the technical data sheet. However, the fact that 775 motherboards that support two floppies are rare doesn't mean they don't exist. I still have to be patient and keep looking..

yet I had read mtr0 and mtr1 on the datasheet.. .
