Anyone else watching this clown hacking up the three 11/24 systems and selling the parts over on EBay? Tried to buy the RX-02 Unibus controller but did not bid enough, my own fault. Lot of grant cards and a bootstrap card just listed, I need another bootstrap card for a second 11/34 that I have and saw the one just listed , don’t think it’s a M9301 but will bid on it anyway.
 
Yup. This guy seems to be totally focused on the worth of the gold reclamation (notice he goes by "metalmonsterrecycling2012") and is clueless that anyone might actually find greater value in this thing intact. BTW, the bootstrap terminator appears to be an M9312 (which I feel is preferable to the M9301 anyway providing it includes the ROM you need). Good luck.
 
Well, it's an auction though so if someone with a PDP wants to bid it might go for less than the parts normally?

Yes of course, that’s very likely and shipping would be easier too. I wasn’t faulting the seller’s motives or logic - only pointing out that it almost certainly never occurred to him that someone could find something useful in that equipment beyond its raw scrap value. Guess it comes down to one man’s treasure …
 
Think he may now have discovered the value of this stuff, at least we now know that it won’t end up being cut up for gold recovery. Imagine he came by this thru typical recycling channels. Why is it that I never just come across three systems this way?
 
Per a thread on the cctalk mailing list someone asked him about the cards. He received them that way, he didn't scrap the system and he added that he did have what he believes is a complete PDP 11/24 which is that auction he just posted.
