Hey guys, just got in a 5170 and it was DOA, narrowed it down to the motherboard, I removed all cards and still no boot, PSU won't even spin the fan if the motherboard power connectors are attached. It runs fine with just the floppy and giant HDD attached.
Checked the voltages and the 12v range is at 11.8v and the 5v range is at 5.2v, so everything seems okay with the psu, any ideas on where to start checking the MB? First thing it needs is a thorough cleaning, still has 25 years of crap all over it, but I don't think that'll help the boot problem.

Appreciate any info/suggestions!

PS: Anyone know a way to rig a "regular" battery for these things? I hate that big square battery (that's always long dead) any way safely rig a button battery or even a AAA or something??
I used to be much handier at this stuff, had electronics training etc. just forgot it all, lol

lol, nevermind on the whole thing, got her going!! Don't know what I did but I totally disassembled and reassembled and it works fine! I don't have a monitor so I had to swap in my 5150's video card so I can use my 13" TV. It only boots to the point of complaining about the keyboard (don't have an AT one) Does have 2540 kb RAM though!
