Beginner on 8080 in assembly language with CP/M

Hi everybody,

My name is Olivier and I started to learn assembly language 8080 with CP/M on Amstrad CPC 6128 computer.

I've created some new commands, as VER, VERSION, CLS. Does somebody else still use assembly language 8080 or Z80 with CP/M ?

I've read the book "Introducing CP/M assembly language" of Ian Sinclair. Very good book for beginners. (I've also own "8080/8085 programming of Leventhal)

Do you know a book to go further with Assembly language and CP/M programming ?

I already know how to use all resident and transient commands now. I would like to find a book to mastership CP/M with assembly language.

I notice there have been no replies to your question yet, perhaps because it is so general.

It is useful to use the "search" capability on this forum. Also note that this forum has areas for software assistance which may have more regular readers than this CP/M area.

There are many tutorial courses in Assembler available on the internet - a simple search will locate them. Many of the classic texts for CP/M are also now available in online archives.

There is also the newsgroup "comp.os.cpm" which has been running for many years. One of the most frequent contributors is a French man who recently reported that he needed three shipping containers recently to move his collection of CP/M books and CP/M-based computers. I won't name him here, but I'm sure you could locate him.

Otherwise, you might find forum members here may be happy to respond to your questions on specific problems with CP/M, rather than a general desire for "mastership", which I think has eluded most of us...

Since this post, I bought the book : "Mastering CP/M" of Alan R. Miller.
It's really a good book to learn more about 8080 assembly language programming with CP/M.

I'm gonna buy soon :

- "CP/M Assembly language programming" and "CP/M techniques" by Ken Barbier

- The Programmer's CP/M Handbook by Andy Johnson-Laird

- CP/M 80 Programmer's Guide by Barry Morrell and Peter Whittle

- CP/M Bible: The Authorative Reference Guide to CP/M by Mitchell Waite and John Angermeyer

I own the paper french version of "MASTERING CP/M" and also the .pdf english version. That's pretty cool.
