I want something that actually looks like the original - vector-like graphics, white on black, your ship is a triangle, etc.

These new versions of asteroids with the colored rocks, backgrounds with planets and stuff, etc., ruin the fun for me.

If there isn't one out there, I'll start programming one, but I'm just a novice at C64 basic, so that'll be a bit.

I have looked, and all Asteroids clones I have seen have some sort of colour into them. I suppose back in the days, aspiring programmers didn't want to make games that would make the computer look five years older than it was.

Well even the official Atari version on my 2600 botherss me because it randomly colors the asteroids - looks pretty bad, but it plays nicely..

The only system capable of displaying Asteroids well would be the Vectrex (for obvious reasons) and their built-into-the-system-game minefield is a clone of sorts. Anywho I don't have one of those. I have a MS-made clone of Asteroids for 16-bit Windows, but that's the only version I can find that doesn't suck IMO.

If we don't locate one perhaps I'll just have to wait until I can code for the C64 better and code one up in BASICv2..

Hmm, I wonder if I can one day make the Tektronix (vector screen also) play Asteroids. One day I may try. After I get it to work.
