C64 not powering up... May need a new ac adaptor

Hello, I just registered to these forums to look for help on my commodore 64. Which now doesn't even boot or turn on :-(

when it did it needed a new basic rom chip. Channelmaniac says I might need a new ac adaptor :-/

That's entirely possible. But then again, a 64 that doesn't boot could be a whole bunch of other things. Does the red light come on when you flip the switch? If not, I agree you should seek out a new brick and go from there.

Correct the led light does not come on when hooked up and switched on.

You may want to check the fuses, both in the power supply and inside the computer. However if fuses are broken, there probably was a reason why they broke. If your C64 will need additional repair once you get power to it, you might as well consider finding a cheap, complete new C64. Ideally a C64C as they seem to have fewer problems than the breadboxes.

After hard work opening the power brick ;-) I noticed the red wire was severed :-/
