Just got a Compaq 386/20E in excellent condition but I need to change the BIOS settings after switching graphics card and it asks for a diagnostic disk I don't have.

Does anyone know where to download an image file of that or could kindly privide me with one? :)

Thanks

Thanks, I've tried that one but it fails to create the disk since It needs a true 720k DD floppy drive which I don't have
Tried creating the floppy in WinXP on my P4 machine, in pure DOS on my Eisa 486 machine and on the Compaq itself...I get a warning first that it will probably fail because I have a HD floppy drive and then I get an error it can't access the floppy or it's not formatted even though I have a real 720kb DD floppy in the drive

It worked for me. I have XP on a box that has a 1.44MB drive. I put in a formatted 720K diskette, ran the extracted QRST.EXE from sp0308.zip, and it created the diskette. I then tested the diskette by booting from the it in a 300 MHz clone machine.

Maybe your 720K diskette needs to be formatted. Maybe your 720K diskette is faulty.

As an alternative method for you, I used WinImage to create an image of the 720K diskette.

I managed to solve it yesterday (don't as my why i worked)
I had previously formatted the disk in WinXP with the command to format 720k disks...also formatted it in pure dos on my Eisa box with Dos Navigator disk format util.
Yesterday I made a last attempt and formated the same disk on the Compaq 386 with the "format a: /F:720 command then ran the QRST.EXE and it worked (??!!) lol :-D

Hi, I have the same pc and problem, can you help me?
