Connect modern keyboard to VT100

Has anyone ever done this? I know it’s the exact opposite of what’s usually done by the keyboard freaks, and as a result there are a lot of keyboardless VTs out there, and I just don’t know if I can stomach paying $300 for a dang keyboard.

Are there any alternatives?
