Converting Pidp-11 boot images like BSD 2.11 to real disk images

I have an MFM drive emulator, and was wondering if it's possible or practical to perhaps load some of the boot disk images from the pidp-11 onto the SD card and boot them on the PDP-11/23

Has anyone attempted this before? Or failing that, are there images of BSD or System V that I could somehow put onto the emulator, connect it to the system, and expect it to boot from it? I'm pretty hazy on the whole boot process, but have the system up and running to the point where it needs a boot device...

Any input would be appreciated! Basically, I'm trying to go from the ROM boot prompt to a running system.

Cheers,
Dave

I installed 2.11 BSD on my 11/73 by copying the SIMH disk image to the SCSI disk partition. Didn't have to do anything special, just used the dd command on MacOS.

That's what I do. Gen up a system on Simh for what OS you want to use. Then DD to your SCSI disk partition. Then move said drive to your pdp-11.

No, of course it's not. But it so much easier with a SCSI drive. Never tried an MFM drive as I have no system that has the capability to use one (PC wise).
