Dead Texas Instruments TravelMate 4000E Color Help

So I have ended up with one of these in a job lot.

It came with original power supply, but neither this or the computer lights up when plugged in.

The battery pack inside was all corroded, although it doesn't seem to have leaked inside the machine.

Do you need to use the battery pack when using the power supply?

I'm not sure if it's worth trying an alternative power supply and if so where I could obtain one from.

I'm based in the UK. The adapter outputs multiple voltages 5.2v 4.0a, 6.0v 0.3a or 5.2v 0.0a 6.5v 2.2a.

I have a travelmate and the screen will not work on mine. I use a computer monitor. You do not need the battery pack to use the computer.

Thanks for the reply. I tried buying a replacement power supply. It is 5v, 4amp, rather than 5.2v. Sadly it still doesn't work. Think I might end up selling it for parts only for a few pounds!
