I am selling this DECVaxstation:
DEC VAXSTATION 3100-38 VS42A-CC
KA42-A
24MB RAM
RZ24 204MB SCSI HDD
8 PLANE GFX graphics

I have too many projects, so I wanted a DEC computer that would work.
I bought this VaxStation in November 2022 on e-b-a-y, and the seller told me that it was refurbished.
This is indeed the case, the battery has been changed and the metal casing has been cleaned in several places inside.
There is no blemish on the case as far as I can see.
The cards look neat, I can't see any corrosion.

Inside is a GFX graphics card (as it is a VaxStation as opposed to a microVax), two memory cards on connectors, and a DEC-branded HDD.
Unfortunately, there are no other storage devices (no floppy/cartridge drive).

I tried unsuccessfully to make a DIY adapter for an LCD screen, then made an MMJ->RS232 adapter for the console. I added an AUI loopback for Ethernet.
As I used a MMJ->DB9->USB adapter plugged into the console port, I don't know if the graphics card is working.

As you can see in one of the photos the station starts up and complains about several things. One reason I am selling this station is because of a succession of problems: When the station arrived a year ago it was booting, then after a month it did not boot anymore. After a lot of research, I changed all capacitors in the PSU and added a few components to slow the power good signal, then the station started again but it did not boot from the OS.
Then a few weeks ago it started to show another error message, but it does not appear all the time. This time it's enough for me, I do not want to spend months searching for an obscure problem. After all, I bought this station to have something that was working on powering up every time.
I ask for $380 (350 EUR) and the buyer pays shipping costs. I live in France (in Brittany)

It looks like you have put a lot of work getting the system to a useable state. I'd definitely be interested in continuing on with it.

Kindly DM if you'd like to discuss further.
