I've replaced caps on a couple of Game Gears & done an lcd screen replacement successfully but I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this one!
I have a Game Gear which I replaced all caps and it worked ok apart from it was faulty when a cartridge was put in the slot. If the cartridge was touched or moved slightly you could hear a ping noise, possibly of the metal pins in the slot, the game would go off and the screen would blank.
I wrongly assumed this was a faulty slot and replaced it with one that's been developed recently and now the Game Gear comes on but has no sound or picture.
I've tested the onboard continuity points on the slots PCB and they seem to test fine but that's the extent of my knowledge. The site where I bought the board has some info for next steps but it's way beyong my capabilities, was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what I could try next if anything?
Would like to bring it back to life again if possible - any help much appreciated, it's been stuck in the cupboard for a few months.
