Glenside Picnic/Gathering/Outing Sept 23

We are going to West Dundee, Illinois, and we are going to go in small groups and explore this town.

For example:
I may go for lunch somewhere with my wife, and then go to the arcade and stay for 45 minutes. Then I may go to the candy store, then go for frozen custard. Then I could go for a walk along the very nice and long Fox River - River Walk. Then I could go back the arcade. Then I can go for pizza with the gang and go back to the arcade. And then I can call it a day.

Each person or small group may explore a different part of the town, but we should all get together for pizza (or gluten-free-pizza).

This is an amazing little town. You can park your car behind the Underground Retrocade and walk everywhere else if you like (weather permitting).

Bring the whole family. Invite your vintage computer friends. Spread the word far and wide.

Ok, so I know that 99.9% of the people reading this can not make this event.
But perhaps you can view this town at another time or you can organize something similar where you live. Plan ahead, You my need 3 months to plan something like this. It may be a flop but try anyway. If you only make one new friend then It will be worth it. Online meetings are good, but in-person meetings are better sometimes.

If you would like to do something like this then, everywhere you go look around and ask yourself if this is a good place to have such an event. Constantly scheming. Check prices of meeting rooms at the library, golf course, hotel, restaurant, and such. Get an idea of what things cost. I think this is fun! Have a meetup at a coffee shop and see how many people show up.

I have a kind of heat map of places to plan such an event. Based on my information, I would recommend places like Chicago, Redmond Washington, Fort-Wort Texas, and Albuquerque New Mexico.

We have had 5 people that have RSVP for the Picnic/Gathering/Outing. So, I am currently expecting 5-20 people to show up. Bring your whole family and Bring your friends. I have only told about 1000 people about this event. I did the same last year and 7 people showed up. We had a little more time this year to get the word out so perhaps this will be a year with a bigger turnout. I dose not matter how many people show up, I am sure that I will have fun.

Saturday 09-23-2023 is just 3 hours away from now!
12:00 PM Get lunch.
12:00 PM the Underground Rectrocade will open its door.
---------- Say you are with Glenside, pay your $20.00 and you are good for the whole day.
---------- Play a few games until you get tired.

All were familiar faces.
4 were Glenside-ChicagoClassicComputing.
5 were Glenside only.

While the outing was nice, it is no replacement for the picnic. So we should do both or do alternate years.

Who here wants to have a picnic/gathering at there place?

Note: Glenside is no longer a local-Chicago club, we are now a national club or international club.

In-person meetings are so important. I do not know an easy way to explain this, but trust me it is important. I need to wave my hands while I talk sometimes and I can not do that with ASCII text. But there are many other reasons.
