Anybody have any other stories or links that go along with this? I remember seeing something on TV about someone who used an old toshiba laptop to electronically retrain the nerves in his legs (or something like that).

I read an article in the Compute! Gazette about a crafty fellow who used a Commodore 64 to control an arpartment's HVAC system connected by modem to a central Commodore 128 controller. The system used fail-safe components assuring operation after a power outage. Neat!
