Hello VCF,

I've recently begun rebuilding my vintage/nostalgia collection, with a focus on early-80s to 90s systems. I started way back when with an Apple IIc that my parents bought from my uncle when he moved onto an Amiga (I believe, it's been a few decades). I've put together somewhat of a sampler of different systems, from Apple and Amiga to TI and Toshiba (for a little handheld DOS machine). I've also tried to collect a nice variety of different audio chips across the systems, along with many MIDI adapters, so I can also use these old gems for musical fun.

I look forward to chatting with -- and certainly learning from -- you folks in the days, months, and years to come.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott, and welcome here to the Forum!

I'm also in Southern NH, and I have a Zenith Z100 system with a pile of documentation - free for the taking, if you're interested.
The last time I fired it up, it powered up properly, but when I typed a key to boot, the keyboard would get stuck on repeat and never stop. I always thought that with all the documentation, I could troubleshoot it, but I never got around to it. Think about it, if you're interested in picking up a project system.

Thank you, Dave!

Thanks to you as well, smp!

That is very tempting. Wikipedia tells me the the Z-100 is pre-assembled version of the Heathkit H-100, which would fit in quite nicely with the Heathkit Hero robot restoration I have on deck. As I mentioned in the other sub-forum, as soon as I get over the 10-post mark, I'll send you a DM.

I'm looking forward to spending some time with the IIgs, Brown.

I was not lucky enough to have one when I was growing up, so I am very happy that I have another chance! :)

Your among your people! The folks here are a godsend for their collective knowledge and skills on all forms of vintage hardware and software.

Welcome to the forum Scott. I'm not far from you, in the Mid-Hudson Valley of NY. Spent time in your region a few times, once on my honeymoon back in 1987.

I missed out on the Apple II stuff. My path started with a Commodore PET and then a NorthStar Advantage and then on to PC's and compatibles. I did pick up a working Apple IIe from a dumpster at the local college and I have a IIc that I bought at a garage sale. They both work but unfortunately the color monitor I was using has a problem. I now use the green phosphor Apple CRT and a TV.

I should fix up one of my Amdek Color-1 monitors for you (composite). I dont need 3 and im sure we can do a trade.

I'll admit that while I do have the original CRT monitor for the IIe, for nostalgia/completeness's sake, I found a 4:3 LCD monitor to actually use. The old eyes just ain't what they used to be!

Fellow collector of Apple ][s, T.I., and Heathkit here (I won't let anything Toshiba in the house). Recently picked up an H19 from western MA and smuggled it up to the land of the free. I spend a few months every year on my property 'north of the notch' and hope to build there this spring.

Great to meet you, @utuberangerbob ! I lived in western MA for a few years myself, but never managed to pick up any vintage toys. That didn't pick up again until I moved to the land of no sales tax. :)
