Those don't get much love from people. They are super heavy and cost a small fortune to ship. They are also pretty flaky Alpha boxes and tend to die. Everything in them runs too hot. I have had three of them over the years and all three had the motherboard eventually go bad. Maybe I just had bad luck though. The video card might be worth a few bucks to someone and can be shipped. Never run into one of those before and it looks pretty serious.

I just received several DEC 3000 systems yesterday as part of a large lot of items, and I'm considering just offering them up for free, local pickup only.

I had a DEC 3000 I picked up for $15 at a university surplus store a decade ago. This has an early alpha CPU, with a nonstandard bus (turbo bus IIRC), and special memory to boot. It took a lot of work to get mine to run netBSD.

Hate to say it but it's just not worth much.

Thanks for the reply's :), looks like this might just go into the scrap bin. I was hoping the board with multiple cpu's might of had some value. I know very little about servers or DEC computers.

Maybe someone local to you would want it before you toss it.

Which model 3000 is it? Maybe there is model number inside the flip down down on the front panel? I'm not really familiar with that series. Depending on where the system located someone might be interested in it. If they have to pay to ship it it might be less interesting.

It is a model 400. I have seen these motherboards advertised for $$$ but that don't mean they have value either, just like because you can sometimes pick them up for cheap doesn't mean that's all there worth. I live in a small country town so I doubt anyone local to me would be interested, and this is a very heavy item to post. Thanks again for your help
