I've just got one of these things and have been told to use tiif utility rather than the original pcif software.

The thing is I'm really struggling to know how to use it, anybody able to give me a few hints. Ideally I want to transfer from pc to TI-74...

The I/O flashes when I turn on the '74 but then disappears, I'm not really sure if it's working properly!

I can't find any doucmentation on how to use tiif so it's not going very well!

Hiya there,
I found lots of documentation on the caulculator so far, and I have found one whole page on the TIIF program. Does the TI work on its own? I mean without the cable attached. How are the batteries doing? I don't have a calculator that can interface, sadly, of my very own. I'd give PCIF a go, though.

Well I'm actually struggling to work out to save and transfer files onto the TI-74. I guess you have to open, save then close, not sure of the syntax to use. Can anyone help. For instance if I have a program called Hangman which is stored on my c:/ drive, how do I transfer the contents onto the '74? The manual talks about file numbers, do I just put 1?!

Really struggling, so any help would be appreciated.

Even if you use the original software surely you must enter the same commands to save and load stuff!

Thanks!

I've PM'd you, but for the rest of the world who might be interested.

Yes, you just pick a number from 1 to 255!

If the program is already on the PC hard drive (or even floppy!), the easiest way to get it into the TI-74/95 AND CC-40 is OLD "100,filename where filename is the COMPLETE path to the program, such c:\ti_progs\games\hangman

For those who might be interested, the device numbers for the PCIF and the hexbus and dockbus computers are:

parallel printer - 14
computer screen - 45 (handy for listing programs when debugging!)
computer disk for program storage - 100
computer disk for DATA storage - 101
