HP 86b - no video. Looking for repair information

Hi all,

I just picked up yet another vintage computer, I'm starting to think I need professional help
I got an HP 86b at a local swap meet. I have no knowledge of this machine other than what I've gleaned from a quick google search.
In my first attempt to fire it up, I got a black screen (connected to a standard TV). It does seem to be outputting at least some video sync since the "No Signal" box on the TV went away when I turned the HP on.
If anyone has any information about this computer, I'd welcome the help! Thanks.

Are you connecting to a TV with a composite input? Most Tvs only accept RF signals. The 86B's video output is composite video.

Hi Chuckster,

Yes, I'm connecting it to the composite input of a flat-panel TV. I did have trouble once getting an Apple II+ to display its video on this same TV so I wonder if modern flat-panels are more fussy about sync rates, etc.
