Hello fellow Retro Computing folks!

I am a collector in Independence, Missouri USA (just outside of Kansas City, Missouri). I have been into computers through my hobbies and professional life now for right around 19 years.

Personally, I am married (yes, one does have to have an understanding wife for this hobby of mine) and that is going on two years on December 11, 2006. I do not have any children, but I do of course have toys!

My hobby is currently building a collection of vintage machines, the list of what I am looking for is posted elsewhere on this forum, but I collect mainly Commodore Amiga and just began collecting C64 gear.

My modern computer is an Apple Macintosh Mini (2nd Generation with Motorola PowerPC processor) and my vintage collection includes:

1 Amiga 4000 (D) -- currently being built!
2 Amiga 2000 in excellent shape
3 Commodore 64 "Breadbox" with 1541 and 1571 Disk Drives, and a Vic 20 cartridge modem.

I have one (looking for others) 1084S monitor.

Also looking for various A4000 and C64 parts :) <-- Shameless plug! :-D

4 2 gateway P3C Notebooks

What I am hoping to find is:

1 Apple ][e Platnum system with 3.5 Floppies and a monitor in excellent shape.

2 A newer C64 In as close to mint condition as I can find.

3 A Tandy Color Computer 3 (CoCo) system in excellent working and aesthetic order.

Anyhow, my older hobby still exists and I plan to ressurrect my old BBS soon -- This is called The Electronic Oblivion (TEOBBS). It was last ran on a PC running RemoteAccess 2.0x+ and was online in 1988-1991 along with a sister BBS (we were each other's co-Sysop ;-)) called Into the Night which also ran on RA 2.0x+. I plan to ressurrect it on my Amiga 2000 running CNET, as well as allowing Telnet to it and a modern forum system, like we have here!

My goal with my BBS is to possibly set it up in a non-profit senario so that I can educate folks what the BBS sub-culture was all about and of course have a nice interactive museum-style exhibit showing my collection for educational purposes. The two things I hate about other museums is that you can't touch anything, so hopefully I can find a way to do this without people breaking my machines! The second thing, was about to go into "novel writing mode", is that they normally feature non-working items, I am wanting to keep the machines being used because I feel they should not sit unloved!

Anyhow, as you can see, I am quite into my computer toys and I personally started collecting because I miss the games that I played long ago and wish to play them now. The Amigas are the best way to do this IMHO! The C64 is another way to do this.

Hope that you all have similar love for your preferred platform(s) and that we can all go crazy on the retro computing hobby together!

The only problem is: Where do you find old programs and 5 1/4 floppies that are worth a toss, grumblecakes!

Welcome to the fourms!

Looks like you've got a lot of nice machines and fun projects going!

Enjoy!
