I recently picked up a pristine 5153 monitor for my PC. In my infinite wisdom though, I peeled off the plastic film on it (which had turned ugly and bubbled over the years) and scratched through the red, green, and blue paint, while the rest came out fine.

What are my options? Is there anywhere where I can buy a new badge, or will I have to buy paint and repaint the badge myself? I have a steady hand but unless I use spray paint, it may not look as even as it did originally.

Those protective films that are supposed to be removed when new can get baked on after many years, so don't feel too bad. It probably looked even worse before you took it off.

Many 5153's are suffering from extremely brittle cabinets, and are getting smashed in shipping. If you keep an eye out, you'll probably be able to scavenge a plate from a broken cabinet eventually. In the mean time, I'd probably try using a red and green sharpie to patch it. It won't look perfect, but it should make it less obvious, and will be easier that using paint.

Yeah even the film was somewhat yellow and bubbly. Thanks for the advice.
