IBM AT

I made this video on mine when I first got it, back in 2021. It's been a long time, haven't gotten much done on it since then besides cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Board looks better now but there's gunk between ICs and other parts I need to get at. No broken traces as far as I can tell, but it's gone many factory cut traces and bodges. I suspect it's a very early revision.

Colour ?Yeah, The XT I got the correct mix pantone colour, and might redo this one later but its expensive to have paint mixed and I wanted to test out the texture. Its too bumpy but actually feels ok.

and I have far to many projects on to really focus on fine detail at the moment :)

Pic of my Redstone Computers XT Turbo with EGA videa card and monitor in case NoBody didn't believe me . I got it for free from a mum and Pop Computer store a hundred miles away in Hasting, Hawkes Bay.. The original hdd was as dead as a Dodo.;)IMG_20230425_070106_hdr.jpg

That paint job looks good to me. Maybe not exactly original color but I would not care about that. If it looks good that's all that matters. Nice job.

I agree it may not be a stock color but I think it looks really great and I wouldn't change a thing. I dont mind retro brighting at all and only paint when I have to. Usually to cover repaired rust or plastic damage that has been repaired. I dont really like doing it as I am not the best painter. So a task like a 5170 cover would leave me hesitant. You did a good job and thats all that matters in the end.

IDE interface and XTIDE fitted but the AT needed a BIOS upgrade to work.

Now its booting nicely from the Hard Drive. Shame its not the original MFM drive but its looking good.

Can you elaborate on why you needed a bios upgrade and what bios you ended up using? I want to get back to my AT repair and could use the info as well.
