Information on DEC PC350-D2

I found one of these mixed in with a pile of IBM XT 5160s and some NEC APC systems. Doesn't seem to have a monitor or keyboard with it that I could find. I didn't open up the case (yet anyway) can anyone give the quick lowdown on these machines? Googling didn't reveal much. Are they of interest?
 
That may be the same thing as a DEC Pro 350. If so, there's probably some interest around for it. Many computer collectors love the old DEC gear.

I'd check the model number on mine but it's still in storage.

Information on DEC PC350-D2

Yup, googling for DEC Professional 350 revealed alot more info, and the cases for these machines look just like this 350-D2. Must just be a variant model. Interesting enough, this box looks like it was OEM'd to CLSI corporation, as that's the logo on the front. The DEC trademark/info is on the back label. Now I have to see if I can scrounge up a keyboard and monitor for this thing and try to fire it up and see what happens.
 
The monitor/keyboard on the Pro-350 (& Rainbow) is a standard DEC VT-220 terminal (with slightly different connectors, IIRC). However, I believe the PC-350 is a completely different animal, an IBM-PC compatible ('386?, '486?). I remember a few of them coming thru the shop, back in the day...

Not quite... the VR201 monitor slightly resembles the VT220 but is much smaller, and is just a CRT, not an ASCII terminal. The DA-15 connector on the back of the VR201 takes +12VDC and composite video (RS-170) from the system box, and returns the keyboard signals (the LK201 keyboard plugs into the monitor, not directly into the CPU).

The VR201 is _so_ standard in its signals that I've built wiring harnesses to hook them up to an Amiga - 3 wires (+12VDC, GND, mono video)

That may be. I never was all that familiar with DEC's PC Compatibles.

I stand corrected...

There was this one lady who was a regular customer who was a DEC employee. She always had the latest in DEC equipment, but didn't trust her own people to work on it. She was around from the '386 all the way up into the Pentium era. My friend Mark has a lot of DEC "collectibles" (promotional items, etc) thanks to her. She always had some new little trinket for him, whenever she came around.

Doesn't seem to be much useful info on google, but there is a little bit of (sometimes conflicting) info available. Some sources use the terms PC-350 and Pro-350 interchangably, while others speak of them as if separate things. Here's a link to a company that has some for sale, mebbe they could provide more specific info if one were to inquire.

BTW, they do have the PC-350 grouped into the same section as other DEC IBM-PC compats, like the Prioris, Celebris, & Venturis models.
