Gang,
I've posted before about my IBM Installation and Setup Personal Computer AT manual. It's item number is 1502491 and it describes proceedures for adding options to the PC/AT.
I was kinda surprised that IBM would steer the users towards assembly. I would have thought that they'd rather charge the customer to configure their system. On the other hand, perhaps IBM didn't have retail outlets and the manual was aimed at technical personel at computer stores.
Anyway, what I am wondering is if a similar manual was created for the other tan colored IBM computers. I seem to remember my (stashed at the moment) PC Guide to Operations manual mentioned the proceedure for adding cards to the expansion slots. Perhaps there was no need for an Installation and Setup manual because of this?
On a personal note, I'm accumulating quite the collection of the pastel IBM slipcase manuals. Can't get enough of 'em. I'm looking forward to the day when I set up the computer with all the manuals lined up next to it. Sort of Freudian obsession
