I thought I would make a separate thread for this new system i got (mentioned in another thread about the psu).

I recently got a an Intel i661 chassis and it came with a manual (145340-001) but I wasn't able to find this online so i scanned it myself. It is just JPGS though so it needs turning into a PDF by someone with the right software:

My PSU currently has at least 1 bad 171-1 transistor on the -12v rail. On removing the others to service the rest of the psu board i found the other two measure differently from each other as well. Does anyone know of a more easily obtainable cross for these? I have thousands of T03 transistors, but none of this type (schems say its a 12505-2) .

My system consists of :
i661 chassis (the SBC-640 PSU dates to 1978)
iSBC 286 with 4mb ram
020cx 2mb ram card
2x 010cx 1mb ram card
pSBC 562 - ethernet card

and 3x iSBX 217b (for some reason - and no 215g to go with them :(

My system was purchased from an Intel liquidation in the distant past as evidenced by a very faded label found while cleaning it. It has a second 286 SBC but this one has a blue soldermask and more patch wires, and no production paper labelling. An ex-intel engineer who worked on the development of these had a look at it and he says the blue soldermask indicated it was from the engineering lab. This one has 1mb ram and an LCC 286 cpu.

I also have an additional front panel piece with more buttons but don't see that it was to fit this chassis.

have a look at some photos, and rom dump here:

Just to add that this morning I repaired the PSU by replacing the two bad 171-1 transistors (one had a B->C short, the other was leaking C->E). As the -12v transistor had shorted, I decided to also replace its ua723 regulator at the same time. I checked the state of some of the caps in the circuit and they all measure good so i've let them be. I slowly brought up the psu on a variac, then loaded it, then plugged it all back in and i get LED activity on the main SBC that looks like its booting up and doing some checks! I also got a red LED on one of the ram cards which i think indicates a parity error, but a removal and push of the chips randomly and that has cleared up :)

Now to connect to the serial port and see if there's a prompt there?
