Hey guys,

I have a Kaypro 4 84' in almost new condition. It was working great until this morning when I was playing around with some system disks in the B drive. Upon resetting the computer after it had froze, the system now will not boot up. The boot disk ive been using is Word Star in the A drive. At first, the drive sounds like it wants to boot up then it makes an obnoxious loud drive buzzer noise and then just continues to click as if its trying to read the disk. I tried swapping the B and the a drive and changed the jumpers on both drives around and still have the same problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

First reactions -

First simply, try a " new " boot disk - old one could have gone bad - it happens !

Many others will respond, but need much more info / details to really help.

Good you swapped disk drives !

Could be a sudden bad mainboard chip - not good - very complex to diagnose.
