Kaypro CP/M Software

Where can I find this? I plan to find a CP/M module for my C64 in the future, and in order to make software easily available for the C64 CP/M module they set it up to be capable of running Kaypro software out of the box. Thus I ask where can I find a big abandonware archive of Kaypro CP/M software so that I can get an idea of what getting one of these modules will allow me to do.

I think you're thinking of the Commodore 128 and its 1571 disk drive being compatible with the Kaypro and other CP/M disk formats. The C-64's implementation of CP/M via it's plug-in cartridge and standard 1541 disk drive is not Kaypro compatible.

That first link is very handy. That's where I found the CP/M version of Turbo Pascal I had lost from my highschool years.

I'm looking forward to playing with CP/M on my C128DCR I just picked up. :) (My Kaypro IV is in the garage, short on desk space in my geek HQ)

As long as you have a 360KB floppy drive, there are no shortages of ways to write them to disk.

22disk was at least at one time one of the more popular tools.

360KB drives aren't really hard to find. You could even borrow the drive from your CP/M system most likely.

The only way I could think of writing images was to download the image using PC, use Hyperterminal to transfer to Compaq Portable III (which has no 3½" floppy) and use its 5¼" floppy drive to write to disk. No matter what I did, the disk was not readable. I tried lots of different variations. I considered that maybe the Kaypro "New 2" drives were faulty, but I tested Kaypro II images for my Kaypro II (known to have working drive) and that didn't work either. The Compaq drive (also known to be working) just isn't writing the images properly. (speed? density?)

I have no other way I know to get the image to floppy. The only thing left is to attempt to buy Kaypro software floppies from anybody who can sell me some.
 
Is sharkonwheels off shore again? I know he used to sell bootdisk images for lots of systems including the Kaypro, given I'm sure lots of folks here could replicate that deal.

Exactly how do you use Hyperterminal to transfer the image?
What software do you use on the Compaq to write the image?
What density blank floppy media are you using?

Damn, I knew that the C128 had a Z80 built-in, but I thought that the actual CP/M itself was the same between them, or at least similar... so the C64 CP/M isn't compatible with... erm... anything?

Edit: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo it's true.. :(
