Lear Siegler ADM-3(A) restoration

I recently picked up this non working ADM-3a with severe cataract.
Unfortunately the CRT glue has leaked onto the board and caused quite severe corrosion, the tension Band is rusted through as well.
The goal here is a full restoration, i‘ll post as i go on.

I have put a working 3a board into the chassis, and the crt and analogue board seem to be working.

If the tension band is rusted through, then the CRT is no longer safe and may implode anytime.

I don’t believe so, if you read the patent, it is stated that the tension band is fitted after the crt is put under a vacuum. So I don’t think it would implode out of nowhere. However, if it was to implode, the implosion would be mutch worse.

Making progress, if it doesn’t implode from me handling it and removing the glue, I highly doubt it would implode from day to day usage.

FYI it is much easier to handle the bare CRT if you put it in a plastic bucket first.

Alright, glue removal was successful, looks amazing. The CRT is still very bright and healthy, no burn in as well. I’ll have to adjust the focus though.

Just two layers of double sided tape along the edges
