Hello!

I am looking for a nice TI-99 system to photograph for a personal project Im doing with vintage technology. The project basically consists of very beautiful lit up products shots of vintage items on black plexiglass. I have looked at various computers and love the TI-99 for its stark industrial design look. It in I have searched for them on Ebay and find only the computer itself. I would like to find one with the matching monitor that texas instruments made for it. (I am aware that they basically slapped there name on a TV but still want the original) like you see in the bill cosby ads they did. I am willing to rent one or perhaps buy a system and am open to photographing it on location however I would like to get it in the studio. Ideal to find someone in the greater Seattle Area who has one. If anyone has a lead on this or knows who to contact about this that would be great!

I wish I could help you, but my TI is no where near vintage.

Do you have your photos online? I would like to see them if you did...

Your best bet for finding TI-99/4A people is to check the Yahoo Group, TI-99/4A. There are hundreds of active TI users there, and a few of them are in the Pacific NW.

I have numerous complete TI systems, but I am on the wrong side of the country. BTW, the cream-colored monitors and expansion boxes never made it out into customer hands, so the only complete system you'll be able to photograph would be the Black/Silver version. . .unless you get lucky and find someone with one of the prototypes.

There's always spray-paint. ;)

I happen to be in the Seattle area, unfortunately I only have the computer itself... I have been trying to find a nice, complete system but no go.

There is a guy on Craig's List from Fife (maybe he's in the forums?) who listed a TI-99/4A and the expansion box a while back. Now all I see is the TI itself, so not sure if he managed to sell the whole box.

If you do a search for the word "vintage" on seattle.craigslist.org, under Computers, you'll see tons of ads from him (again, he's from Fife). Maybe shoot him an email and find out if he still has the whole system for the shoot?

He seems to be looking for moving boxes, so that could be your way to repay. :D
