Are there any collectors in the Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Dakotas or Minnesota areas who would be interested in acquiring a definative IBM PS/2 and other IBM collection ? It would require pick-up since shipping costs would be too astronomical. I have most of the PS/2 models with MCA configuration disks as well as aditional MCA cards. Also some PS/1s including an all-in-one 2011 and others. A PCjr. and PC, XT, and AT, could also be part of the package. I believe I have the PS/1 quadrature stub and also 3 versions of OS/2. up to Warp 3. A bunch of other OS/2 and/or major Win 3.1 programs could be included. Also many other disks and documentation. There are possibly 20 or more computers being offered.

I'll let this simmer for a while and then consider breaking up the collection.

The Major himself, Louis Ohland, is in southern Wisconsin. He might have a good interest. I'll see about getting you both in touch.

If you do part them out, do you happen to have any video or audio capture cards for MCA? I only have one PS/2 (9595 P66) and don't need any more computers, but MCA cards interest me (and are cheap and easy to ship).

I remember him well from the great IBM PS/2 newsgroup, which I religeously followed many years ago. My favorie newsgroup of all time. Outrageously funny at times, but always helpful and informative.
Thanks, I'd appreciate that.

I do have some MCA video cards. I believe the vaunted Mach 64 in original box, and an IBM X2 (? forgive me my MCA nomenclature now escapes me) also IIRC a couple of memory cards and some loose IBM chips. Sound cards always escaped me, I couln't afford the manufacturer price, but I almost got a used Piper card once. :^(

Hi Micom,
This is very exciting! I know you want to sell everything together, but if you do end up selling any of the PCs individually, I've been looking for an IBM PS/2 50Z for a long time. Do you have that particular model? The 50Z was my first PC, and I loved it. I donated it while it was still in fine working condition and have regretted it ever since. Anyway, as you might be able to tell, the 50Z has (perhaps silly) sentimental value to me. I'd just really like to get one back to tinker with it. I do still have all my old DOS programs for it (no IBM reference diskette, though). Anyway, I live in New Jersey, but I would be willing to discuss shipping. I also have a friend in Minnesota, who could conceivably pick it up for me and hold onto it until I could get it, should you have that model and would be willing to sell it individually.

Thanks!

I'd have to check but I believe I do have a 50Z and also the monitor it came with. For now tho I'd like to wait it out a bit to see if someone wants to be a PS/2 collector in volume. If I do decide to piece it out, I'll contact you. The configuration disks are quite available from the PS/2 mafia. The early PS/1s tho are harder to find.

I'd love to have the PCjr. , PC, XT, and AT. Being in NC obviously negates picking them up and unless I invent teleportation soon :p I would imagine the shipping costs would be huge.

Not too sure if I can help, but I'm in minneapolis and I often drive to southern wisconsin (couple times a year anyway) so I could easily be a free courier if the items can get to minneapolis or nearby.

Although I've been wanting an XT myself for some time now, so I'm not sure if it'd be exactly free. ;)

Thanks. Usually the cost of entering the shipping beast in the first place is the major cost.
Trans-shipping wouldn't change the figures too much. Within Canada I've found shipping by bus is the fastest and cheapest. I'll have to explore the negatives of shipping by bus to the US.

Yeah, I understand, and thanks. I'll keep checking back to see how things are going.

Yeah, I've seen them around. I suppose I could pick one of those up even if I don't have the machine. ;)

Well, good luck!
