NEVERMIND, SETTING IT TO COM2 MAKES IT WORK LIKE A CHAMP

I have a ram expansion multi-IO board in my 5150, parrallel port works well, i can use interlnk & a laplink cable with no problems to another (virtual) machine. but when I try to get a terminal connection going,both to a real and virtual machine, I can transmit from the 5150 and the data is recieved by the other machine, however when transmitting with the other machine, the 5150 recieves nothing. Both machines in use using identicle port settings and same terminal application.

perhaps someone here can see what im doing wrong?
my config as follows for serial:
JP2/A is 2&3 (for COM1)
JP3 open (parity check disabled, or do I need this?)
JP1 1&2 (for IRQ3)
JP4A 1&2 closed
JP4B 1&2 closed
JP4C 1&2 closed
(for "normal" mode as opposed to "forced true"?)
JP5 1&2,3&4,5&6,7&8,9&10,11&12,13&14 (all closed for DTE mode? Or do I want host mode?)
