  • From now on we will require that a prefix is set for any items in the sales area. We have created regions and locations for this. We also require that you select a delivery option before posting your listing. This will hopefully help us streamline the things that get listed for sales here and help local people better advertise their items, especially for local only sales. New sales rules are also coming, so stay tuned.

We will have some more PDP-11 boards and systems available shortly.

I will post a list shortly. Please DM me with your items of interest when I post the list. Pickup only from the Somerset (South West) area of the UK. I could make the odd exception for people I know...

If you are representing a museum, please state which one and I will give your request priority.

Dave

I have uploaded the PDP11 catalogue of cards and systems I have available as a ZIPPED EXCEL spreadsheet.

I hope this is OK for everyone?

Expressions of interest (for the time being) to me via DM please.

Collection (in person) from Somerset UK.

Regards,

Dave

I am just dealing with the paperwork and the "people who can say 'yes' or 'no'" to the disposal of the equipment at the moment - as well as fitting in-between everyone's leave...

Dave

You have my sympathy. I always remember some one complaining that I was scrapping a server because I couldn't get spares, why didn't we keep spares? I said we used to but estates took the storage space from us.....

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt!

I had a colleague who once went dumpster diving because stores threw away the only spares we had... We then had to repair the spares because of the physical damage that had occurred when they were skipped...

Dave

I’ve literally watched people push cabinets into a compactor - old servers (including some of the first RISC pre-prod machines), small racks of Eagles (no space for them, everyone’s moved to scsi), terminals, the lot. All this pre-dates e-waste regulations, and folks were just happy to get rid.

A bit more news.

As long as we can satisfy the latest WEEE legislation, we should be OK. The key points are:

Basically, if the card has a defect tag on it (or the components or PCB look damaged when we inspect them) we must class it as waste and dispose of it accordingly. However, I would already go through the cards before you collected them and only provide you with cards that looked "good". Where there is only one of a particular card; if it is damaged, then I may not be able to release it to you. We are not going to actually test anything though - it will be a visual check.

The equipment is also no longer "up for grabs". It is a "zero cost transfer of assets"...

The original equipment was either used for "computing" or as a "spare". I believe this is how you wish to use them also...

I intend you to use it (otherwise you would not have enquired about it in the first place).

We will not supply visually damaged assets.

We think there is now another form for us to complete and then we should get approval...

Dave

Thanks Dave for the updates and all the hard work getting these issues resolved.

I believe we now have approval to release the equipment (although I have not personally seen the approval myself).

There will be a form for each person to complete upon pickup. This is not onerous (now)!

We are now arranging for a pick-up date and for 'bodies' to move the said items from our storage area into offsite storage on the day for collection.
