I have a Dauphin DTR1 which is a pen sensitive slate using Pen for Win 3.1 as well as a regular i486 with a separate keyboard and mouse if you wish. DTR was translated as Desk Top Relacement. One of the issues with it was outlined in Pen-computing magazine. But I love this machine and want to put a serial GPS on it at some point.

If you upgrade it to Win95 you lose your MS$ pen computing abilities. The small HD, a KittyHawk ?, with a small capacity (60mb), is also a problem, but apparently was ATA standard. I don't have any problem with Win 3.1 which I used for years, but there are some problems with compatibility with newer machines and OS's.

MS$ Win 95 did have a pen component in it but neglected uses except for OEMs development according to the PenComputing article above. "Go" was also mentioned as a solution, related to GEOS but is of course long-dead. I had heard of "Graffiti" which was a graphic program on Atari Sts and also I thought on Palm-Pads, with a more-abreviated OS.
So far googling "graffiti" has proved to be a complete frustration as all the web vultures and parasites seem to focus on it. Summa Graphics is also a vehicle if it could work on a smaller-sized slate-type delivery system.

Anyone know of any doodling type of program that would allow you to save your thoughts as a graphic doodle like a sticky. The "suit" type computer execs want programs which will translate their doodlings into printed edicts, I just want bad drawings or commentary ordinarily rendered on napkins to jog my mind. A decent record of thoughts I can interpret. Saved as graphics.

Any ideas on solutions. I CAN intepret my own writing. If I decide to copy it in type I'll do it myself. Most of the time it's only garbage and can be erased or saved in a folder for future reference.

L,

Windoze Paint. Doodle yer doodle, it saves it as a .gif. The notes portion of the pen software also is switchable graphics/recognition.

Thanks T. Gess I have to explore the win for pen more. It only seemed to try and recognize my scribbles.

Yeah, me too. I fired up Agnes, and she seems to be stuck in 'ink' mode. I can't get her to recognize at all in notebook, although Write recognizes just fine. The Help file says to use the button on the toolbar to recognize ink as text, but mine has that button grayed-out for some reason. Gotta play with it some more, try to recall (my mind seems to be clouded over with the Win95 & CIC stuff, interfering with my memory of the WFP 1.0).

Anyways, you can try this on your DTR, but YMMV.

Open the Microsoft Pen Tools window, then select Notebook (not to be confused with Windose Notepad). After doodling something, try the first button on the left side of the toolbar (if it isn't grayed-out), it should then try to recognize the input as text. (It comes up in INK mode by default). If you want it to recognize all the time, pull down the 'Options' menu and select 'Automatic Recognition'.
