New to the forum and looking for some input.
I picked this NEC APC IV PowerMate Portable yesterday and can't seem to find any info on it. When I saw it I just had to have it. Because I collect many different things, If I can't get it working right I can't keep it! At least that's what my wife says.
This is whats happening! The computer powers up but I can't seem to get past the setup screen. Vintage computers are new to me so I don't want to do anything that might hurt it. I have no knowledge of vintage computers so this is going to be a learning experience for me.
Here are some pics, let me know what you think!

If it lets you change the CMOS info and then reboots and ends up with the same old CMOS into, Terry is probably right and the CMOS battery needs to be replaced.

If it retains the changes and just goes back to setup after reboot, try setting the date to sometime in 1999 and set the actual date in DOS.

Had that problem with an IBM 55SX, didn't like the date.

What do you mean the 'setup screen'? I am having similar issues but mine will power up and does not get past the screen with all the BIOS info and stops after it checks the ram.

What BIOS does your machine have?

If I figure it out I will let you know!

Attached is the arc of the utilities, zipped.

I have the jumper settings in a pdf, but it's too big to upload here. If anyone wants them, post a upload location, or pm me your email and I'll email it.
The pdf is 159 kbyte
