NEC Multisync APC-H4311 and JC-1401P3A

Hi Andy, still here for a few more hours. Here's a picture taken about 15 seconds after power up. Please excuse reflection. Over the next minute the text that is just visible becomes effectively invisible - I can't definitively say whether the text fades to the same brightness as the rest of the screen or the rest of the screen becomes as bright as the text. I think its the latter. Same effect regardless of CGA, EGA etc.. The brightness setting on the monitor top panel was set to minimum. With the brightness manually increased its impossible to read the text from the get-go.

Since there are no retrace lines, I think we can rule out things such as excessive G2 voltage, or most of the video output/CRT drive circuits. I would test it with an analog (VGA) source. That would narrow it down to something to do with the TTL input electronics, or something after that.
