Hello Everyone,
I would like to resurrect my dot matrix printer. The problem is the printer is a pre-driver era printer. It is a good printer and cheaper to use compared to the ink jet printer. Is there a generic driver or another companies driver that would be compatible with the radio shack line printer 5. I wrote the company but got no help there since they are no longer in the computer business. I was hoping there are techies here who are familiar with RS products, I would appreciate your help as I would like to activate the printer, it is a sturdy old war horse.

I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

A lot of printers of the era used Epson escape codes. It is possible that you might be able to tell your machine is an ancient Epson printer and get away with it.

You wouldn't happen to have the original manual, would you? A lot of the old printer manuals told you what the specific commands were. You would use the commands for anything other than straight ASCII character printing.

What kind of machine do you hope to use that printer with?
The TRS-80 Line Printer V seems to be a basic 132-column dot matrix.
I doubt it's capable of doing much more than printing your program listings.
It's certainly not going to replace your inkjet.

I have the manual someplace, can't remember where I put it. I do mostly text printing and the printer is fast and does a good job. I would be using it with the dell 2350 computer.
