Greetings! I have an Altair 8800 that was working perfectly; I R&R'd a board and now it won't boot into BASIC from ROM. I've stripped the machine down to just the 88-RBM and the CPU cards installed at this point:
Here's what I know:
1) The first byte of the ROM is F3, or 363 octal.
2) With switches 15 and 14 up only, at C000, it USED to say 363 on the data lights
3) Now it says 355 at C000, and won't properly boot.
I have a TL866-IIPlus and a copy of Martin's eprom burner, but am not sure if I can read the P8316E chips that are actually on the board. Does anyone know if they're compatible with something that can be read easily? Then I'd just check the ROM and see what's on it. I guess I could believe the lights, but I'd like to see for myself!
Any other ideas welcome!!
