I am going to give the KayPLUS upgrade a try with one of my Kaypro II computers. Could someone write a KayPLUS '83 ROM image to a 2764 EPROM? I can provide the EPROM/ROM image and will cover costs for the service/return shipping. Thanks!

I usually just ignore posts like this; if you can't be bothered to put your location in your profile then I can't be bothered wasting my time once again asking where you are just to find out if you're close enough to make it worth while.

What's the big secret?

Yikes, I'm sorry... I didn't know that I wasted your time before as I rarely post to the forums. No secret just an oversight... I regret my post. Thank you for making my visit to the forum an unpleasant one.

Sorry; didn't mean to make your visit unpleasant and hope you don't regret it especially since someone else has offered to burn one for you.

And no, *you* never wasted my time before, it is just a recurring annoyance; I'd gladly burn and even supply your EPROM but if you're in Australia I'd probably be wasting my time and yours making the offer when there's probably someone much closer.

I just happen to think that when you're asking for a favour it's courteous and probably also helps to let people know where you are when it involves shipping something; sorry you don't agree.

Good luck!

Where did I say that I didn't agree? The issue is with the tone of your orginal reply, sir. You could have indicated your concern in a far more considerate manner.

Thank you very much, RetroHacker. I'll send you a PM.

@vanderk:

I think you may have read the post by MikeS incorrectly.
While a tad bit indelicate, it is understandable.
Anyone other than a NOOB who has just signed up, has probably read a post asking "Where are you located?".
If you did an advanced search for "Where are you located?" you'd probably get over 100 hits.
Unfortunately, the missing location when people are asking for help is a far too common occurence.
It would be nice if the location were a required field during the registration process, but it isn't, so someone always has to make another post asking the question.

It's annoying alright, very annoying.
You've added your location which is great - I just wish all the others would too.

Edit: OK, slight exaggeration on my part - you'd get 99 hits on "where are you located", but I'll bet you get over 100 if you try it tomorrow !

If you did agree then you could simply have said, "sorry, I'm in Florida"; end of story, and since I have a Kaypro, the ROM binaries and lots of 2764s it could have been on the way this afternoon.

Seems to me that you *don't* agree that it is in fact you (and others) being a little inconsiderate by making us ask every time "where are you?" It has been suggested a number of times that it should be made a mandatory entry when registering; might be a good idea.

I was also (helpfully) pointing out to you that if you're really looking for a favour then maybe I'm not the only one who ignores posts with no location; perhaps it's no coincidence that no one offered until after you added it...

Edit: oops, looks like Lorne beat me to it ;-)

Granted, I was a little snarky after having just read a half-dozen other posts without relevant locations...

Thanks, Lorne. I appreciate your post. MikeS, I would have responded with a simple "sorry" if you were not so rude--I was just taken back by your lack of tact. I certainly never intended to be inconsiderate and apologize that this matter has you so perturbed. It brings solace to know that 99.99% of other users on the forums are quite friendly, polite, and welcoming to novice forum users.

It didn't and doesn't have me particularly "perturbed"; I was just expressing the same annoyance as Lorne et al, and reminding you and others that you are asking people all around the world to help you, and that some people may just ignore your request if they have to first ask whether you're close enough to make it practical in terms of time, postage, etc.; it's potentially your loss and not mine.

Sorry that you got so hung up on what you perceive as my "rude" tone that you'd rather take the sarcasm and name-calling road instead of that simple "sorry, I'm in FL"; your choice.

Anyway, problem solved; too bad it had to leave a bad taste between two Kaypro fans. Oh well.

I am still curious why so many people don't put their location in their profile, even after they've been asked...
