I need to change two of my CMOS batteries in some old computers.
The two old batteries were:

FPL Ni-Cd 3.6V 60 mAh
and
Varta Ni-Cd 3.6V 60 mAh

I ordered some new ones, and they have sent me this:

GP NiMH 3.6V 80 mAh

Can I use this one instead ?

See http://www.ka7oei.com/nicds.html Near the bottom of that page is a section titled "Replacing NiCds with NiMH cells".
That subject is also discussed on many other web sites.
From my reading of those, knowing that the application is CMOS/RTC backup on a motherboard (or expansion card), I see no problem.

It is time to change them now

Hi,

I finally got time to change the CMOS batteries. There is acid from the old batteries on both the boards, how can I clean this up ?
