I'm going through some DOS files to try and get them organized, and I came across one called 'Cruise Control' by Revolution Software. (cruise.com)

It gave you a few options such as the ability to blank the screen after a set delay (30 minutes default) and the ability to set cursor and repeat rates.

If there is interest I can zip and attach here... file is only 16K.

In Norton Utilities version 8, Norton Control Center seems to be able to set cursor and repeat rates, and I think there are plenty of screen savers out there (PC Tools seems to have some but I'm not sure how to set them up, too lazy to get the manual out to check).

But you never know, if you upload it to archive.org or something, someone someday might be looking for that specific piece of software because they used it 30 years ago.

I don't do a whole lot with MS-DOS, actually. This was just something I dumped from some floppies a while back. Good thing I grabbed them when I did, anyway... when I dumped the disks, I poured everything into one folder, and I should have done one folder per disk. I went to look for those floppies today in hopes of dumping the directories, and realized that they are gone; they apparently hit the 5-year retention limit a few weeks ago. Lucky and not so lucky.

Anyhoo, I'll see about putting the one file on archive.org.

5 year retention? I've got 5.25" floppies that read just fine after 40 years--and 8" ones after 50. I routinely handle hundreds of floppies written 40 years ago. Media quality and storage condition is everything.

I wasn't referring to media lifespan... seems the test engineering group at my work is getting underway with some spring cleaning.

Sorry if I get cagey with the finer points at times.

I signed up for an account at archive.org, but the verification Email isn't coming through.

I'll just park a copy of the cruise.com file here in the meantime, and upload once I am able to do so.
