My company has upgraded their Unix servers, and has the following available:

3 x IBM RS/6000 7026-H80
2 x IBM RS/6000 7026-M80

No, they're not vintage, but these are nice, powerful AIX boxes.

These are big beasts - they are rackmount, weight a couple hundred pounds, and come as (2) units. The units come with their interconnects cables, but these models do NOT contain internal drives. These are made to connect to SAN's like an IBM Shark. I am not sure if they have internal drive slots - I THINK they do. But, it looks like the DO have external SCSI connectors, so you can plug it into a cheap external scsi chassis. As these came out of our Enterprise data center, they will probably NOT be low-configured - they should have a decent amount of RAM (couple GiGs each?) and 2-4 processors each. These are PowerPC, and will run AIX 4.3.3+, and mebbe Linux - haven't looked.

These are, um, heavy, so they will need to be freighted from Miami,FL.

I can assist by palletizing and wrapping, at no charge to the folks on here, and can deliver it in my pickup to a local freight company if you wish to hunt one down.

The palletizing+wrap+delivery is *ONLY* for the V-C people on here - and it is NOT for single-post newbies. It is a PAIN in the arse, and I want it for the people that are on here, participating, and just generally being a part of the V-C community.

If you want pics (they're in 2 stacks in the data center) let me know.

These are WELL maintained, always in an air-conditioned proper data center (multi bill $ company) and have always been under the care of IBM and another 3rd party I can't name, but rest assured they're as large, or larger than, IBM.

These were used for our enterprise AIX/Oracle-based databases, and were only removed because they were all upgraded beginning last November/December.

No wonder *the Shark* disappeared for a long stretch around then. Server upgrades are the worst as far as eating up ALL of a weekend. I can remember some horror stories for some of my upgrades. I never want to go through that again.

Do you mean to say that no license key is required? Wow...how un-IBM...

With our 400 system, everything needs a key or it stops working after 90 days or so...
