Well, I got that "supposed" pre-production CC-40 in today. Of course, my first action was to open 'er up!
At first glance, there is no significant difference between this one and a "regular" CC-40. The only thing I've noticed different is insulation on a resistor/transistor kludge. The same kludge is on both this one and another CC-40 I've got, but there isn't any insulation on the pre-production unit.
Of course, I've only taken the back cover off as of yet.
Oh, the box doesn't say "Wafertape not available."
I'll delve further later tonight.
