RK05 parts needed

I have an older RK05 that has bad bearings in the voice coil (head positioner) and the main fan blower.

Does anyone have a parts drive that they might have these parts available from?

From the voice coil it could be anything from the entire voice coil assembly to just the bearings. For the main fan I don't think it's possible to remove the bearings without destroying the fan itself.

Thanks,

Mike

They looked like standard bearings you should be able to buy new. Did you check? I have vague memories of replacing the fan bearings. Is the difficulty they are pressed on?

Yes, I have tried to find them but I'm not very good at knowing exactly how to spec them. Especially the voice coil bearings as they need to be very very accurate to keep the heads aligned properly.

The fan motor was made by a third party and I was unable to find the part number for the bearings in it.

If no marking on the bearings I use a digital or dial caliper to make accurate measurement of the inner diameter, outer diameter, and thickness and then use that to find the matching bearing. Need to look at the bearing. Most are shielded. If you see rubber seal then you want sealed bearings. Sealed have more drag so you want to match what was installed.

Lots of places sell bearings. Following does have precision bearings that may have been used for the head positioner though expensive. For fan just the ball bearings should be fine. I also bought cheaper bearings from other sources when I didn't think it mattered. Don't have one place I always get them from.

I have also changed bearings in the blower. It is metrical bearings even if the axis isn’t. I putted SKF 608-2RSL in mine. They were the same size as the old ones. Those are sealed. But please double check so it’s the same in your motor.
