Hello fellow vintage tech enthusiasts!

I hope this post finds you in good spirits. I'm a passionate collector born in the '90s, on a mission to recreate a nostalgic PC setup from around the turn of the millennium. I've managed to gather some iconic pieces for this dream setup, but there's one crucial element I'm still searching for: the perfect CRT monitor from between 1997 and 2000.

Brands like Sony (Trinitron), NEC, ViewSonic, Compaq, and Samsung are on my radar, with models such as the Sony G400, NEC MultiSync, or ViewSonic E70f being of particular interest. However, I'm open to any gems that fit within the era!

Here's where things get exciting: I'm aiming to acquire three of these monitors, preferably in "new in box" or "factory sealed" condition. I fully recognize the rarity of what I'm asking, so to make this venture even more appealing, I'm willing to offer a trade. In addition to financial compensation, I'm putting up a factory-sealed IBM PC 300 GL as part of the deal for anyone who can help fulfill this quest.

Even if you can guide me to just one of these CRT treasures, I'd be immensely grateful. Let's work together to make this vintage dream a reality.

Thank you all for your time and expertise. Here's to preserving the legacy of vintage computing!

I’ve put California as the prefix although, I’m from Poland. I’m also quite often in San Francisco, and I’m willing to travel anywhere in the world to get these monitors.

Warmest regards,

15-17" NIB CRTs are still fairly common on ebay. Expect to pay $200-500 each. If you want 19"+ or a specific model, then it becomes more difficult.

Thank you. I’m constantly monitoring eBay for these. The biggest challenge is to get three exactly same ones. Maybe I’ll have to loosen my requirements someday but I’m not giving up on this yet.

I don’t care about the size, so anything starting from 15” would do, but I do care about the color, has to be white.

Oh I didn't realize you wanted three exactly the same, that will be more challenging. In the past year I've only seen that once.

I just have few NIB IBM PCs 300 that I really badly want to match with monitors. I’ve already gave up on getting IBM monitors, but still want to get matching ones at least.

If you’ve seen this on eBay in a past year that already gives me hope.

Almost exactly a year ago actually. September 2022 there was an ebay seller with four NIB Optiquest Q51 monitors. I bought two of them for my own use. So they are out there.

Sorry, I've been using them. Also there are multiple versions of the Q51 and mine don't match the one currently for sale on ebay, if that's what you were thinking. The bezel and controls are different.

How unlucky. A while back I had three competent monitors (can't remember the brand, maybe Phillips), but it was a tough sell, selling them as a group. I thought it was nifty but no one local did. And can you imagine how much three Trinitron G400s in good working condition would cost? I'll keep an eye out, though. There's a lot of used CRTs in the Denver area.

This might be a lead here, certainly not new in box but they are quality monitors that fit within the date range:
