Hi,
I have a unit like this one:

It powers on and the Fault light goes out. I connected the ethernet to a router and can see an IP address is assigned via DHCP, but I have no idea how to log into it and configure the serial ports, or how to use it full stop.

I would like to use it to interface a vintage computer with serial port to ethernet i.e. to allow login from my home network to the vintage computer (via Telnet / Putty).

Does anyone have any experience or manuals for these Atom terminal servers please? Or any websites / blogs etc. that mention them?

Thanks,
John

There is some info about. see also Spiderport, and Shiva was later bought out by Intel. They will connect a telnet session, usually to a specific port number, to one of the serial ports.

I worked with their VPN and T2 modem gateways back in the 2000's, but not on these.
Searching the internet is not what it used to be, and the web archive doesn't always include downloadable stuff.
I did find password reset info, but no manuals for a ShivaPort.

I'd suggest just trying to access the serial console.
Pinouts are often common between vendor devices, so that could get you on the right track for pinout.
Failing that, locate the ground pin, and then trial and error while booting to get the output, and then the input rs232 signals.

They usually had a useful menu with some help and shouldn't be too hard to figure out once you have access.

Your planned use is exactly what I have used similar devices for.
