I am resurrecting two systems that I built some 40 years ago. Currently doing a Bigboard, now fully cunctional with original parallel keyboard, monitor and power supply.

This system had two Shugart 851's running CP/M 2.2. The problem now is that apparently while in storage mice got into the drives and chewed the head cable wiring.

Anyone have any thoughs on fabricating replacements?

Should be pretty simple to replace--small-gauge (e.g. AWG 30) stranded wire in silicone jacket should give you enough flex. Example. I see some Chinese stuff on eBay, you might want to take a flyer at that stuff, but it looks like plain PVC stuff to me.

I measured the outer jacket, 1.56 mm. The head cables are 4 conductor plus shield (r/w-, CT, r/w+. erase, shield/gnd). This is the closest stuff I could find, however out of stock. https://aerialpixels.com/shop/gimba...thin-custom-shielded-4-conductor-imu-wire-1m/
Looks like to work on it I will need to remove the head actuator assembly. Unknown as to how that might screw up the alignment...
