Your thoughts on this interesting problem:
When this beastie is first powered up after being stored for a few weeks, there's zippo from the VGA output for the first 5 minutes.
Then the BIOS version is displayed (AM52V004) and then everything gets going (io.sys et all are loaded, followed by config.sys and autoexec.bat)
If the machine is rebooted, there's no delay. If the machine is left off (but still plugged in) for a couple of hours, there's no delay.
Is there some sort of rechargable CMOS battery (that I've yet to find) at work here?
