Did anyone remember Casio once made PDAs?

This is not a terribly interesting vintage handheld nor is it terribly rare, but it does have one very important feature: it uses AAA batteries instead of an internal LiON. And I had the good sense to remove said batteries before mothballing it 20 years ago. And as a grown up(sort of) I can afford allll the triple-As I want.

I could do with some help finding software for it. I have the dock and PSU and no shortage of serial-capable vintage workstations. But the software for this thing(both the desktop link software and any applications) have long since vanished from my possession.

I do remember these. I bought one as my first PDA ever. I no longer have it nor do I have info though. Good luck with it.

Wow, that changed the trajectory of my afternoon...

My first thought was "Nah they had rechargeable... Oh, hang on..." I just popped open the Casio to find two NiMh AAA's with the top of one just starting to go crusty! Fortunately, it was only on the surface so, out it came and we're all good now. Phew, caught in time, another decade and it would have been toast! The 2016 in the side seemed fine but, flat, surprisingly!

Your post spurred me on to check my HP 360LX where I found two original RadioShack NiMh AA's and a Toshiba CR2032 in which, after about 30 years, are just fine! They're coming out though, just in case.

Unfortunately though, I powered them both on and they only have the basic software that they shipped with however, they were ok with the date, probably surprised but OK.

Fun times, a 0.5:1 contrast ratio, lego-brick pixels but, a backlight that really worked!

I'm going to see if I can find the sync software for Pocket Outlook and my PCMCIA modem that I used with both to transmit my email reports from overseas!

Glad you caught those batteries in time! As I've been finding more and more vintage gear its been a mixed bag. Some items are fine, others destroyed.

Got any good repositories for winCE software?

I've just started looking. I'm trying to think back... unless you want a FOREX trading system built (By me) in .NET in 2003 with the Mobile Toolkit... I suspect that the API is no longer online though.

I'll post here if I find any.

Didnt casio make lots of hand helds? werent some of the trs-80 pocket computers sharp and casio branded (going back into the 80s)?

Casio and Sharp made many, many handhelds. Tandy PC-1, 2, 3, and 8 were rebadged Sharp designs while PC-4,5,6, and 7 were all Casio designs.
